I’m CodyAnn: all day every day I’m a mother of 2, a lipstick enthusiast & a recovering diet coke addict. I educate and encourage PAs to feel empowered in the field of psychiatry! This means primary care PAs who see psychiatry every day….GYN providers who are asked about PMDD, PMS, and menopause…and of course PA Students who are learning every day!
I hear every day from fellow PAs that they see their patients feeling low, anxious, or unstable. They see patients who can’t eat or sleep and patients who aren’t functioning because of their mental health. Ok so that’s the problem. Now what’s the solution….
It’s hard to know how to treat!! My goal is to give you amazing resources and training to feel empowered in how you approach psychiatry.
- Behavioral changes, like encouraging outdoor time, sleep hygiene, and avoiding substance use!
- Adding in psychiatric meds! Maybe changing meds or doses…and knowing which meds are options!
- Feeling certain the diagnosis you’ve given is a proper one! (And how to chart if you aren’t sure!)
If you want to know factual, evidence-based info on psychiatry….look no further. I’m not into Woo-Woo or quack science. Sorry, the internet is full of those pages. Of course, I share my own opinions…but I’ll be sure to call them out by name.
In my professional life, I was a Correctional Social Worker, then left social work to pursue medicine. After PA school I knew I had to get back to mental health! I started working as a Psychiatric PA-C in September 2019 & haven’t looked back! I’m passionate about Women’s Psychiatry & Maternal Mental Health, educating Primary Care Providers & overall expanding access to psychiatric care for all patients!
When I’m not busy with Psychpac…you can find me baking! Often you can find me posted up in my kitchen, listening to podcasts. I’m guaranteed to have my apron on, making sweet treats, cookies, and candy. I bake a lot, my love language is sharing desserts!
